Fundraiser: Tiny change maker, Amy

Published on 20.02.25

This month we’d like to shine a spotlight on Amy Hughes, a tiny change maker who is raising vital funds for us by making (lots and lots) of friendship bracelets! If you’d like one for yourself or a friend then head to Amy’s JustGiving page – and you can find out more about Amy and her fundraising idea below…

Hello! Would you like to introduce yourself to the Tiny Changes community

Hi! I’m Amy, I’m a 24-year-old music photographer based near Northampton, and have been taking pictures of bands since I was 16. My first show was in a tiny venue in Bracknell called The Cellar Bar. Music is a huge part of my life, and always has been for as long as I can remember. When I’m not taking photos at a show, I’m right there in the crowd.

Being a music photographer sounds very fun! What’s the most interesting part of the job and what’s been the highlight so far?

Being a music photographer is such an amazing experience, getting to be up close to artists is something I’ll never get over. The most interesting part of the job is when I get to be creative with my shots, often standing or crouched at odd angles to get the best action shots. The highlight so far would have to be getting to shoot bands I’d grown up listening to, particularly Enter Shikari and Twenty One Pilots. I felt a real sense of accomplishment, all the hard work had paid off.

Can you tell us all about your fundraiser and what made you decide to do it?

Through working at gigs, I’d started to see a lot of people wearing and swapping friendship bracelets, I’d even been given a few myself! I thought it was a cool way of representing your favourite bands, artists, even songs, and it often led to conversations about who or what was on someone’s bracelet. At first, I bought my own kit, and started making them for myself, friends, and family. Then it kind of spiralled, I’d post pictures of ones I’d made, and I’d get replies from followers asking if I could make ones for them too. So I thought, why not turn this into something good?

Why did you choose to fundraise for Tiny Changes? What led you here?

When deciding who to fundraise for, my mind immediately went to Tiny Changes, I feel like that’s exactly what these bracelets are, just something small that I can do to make a difference. Plus, Frightened Rabbit have been one of my favourite bands for a long time, so it just made sense, it was my way of giving back.

Can other people get involved in your fundraising? And if so, how can they do it?

I’m always looking for extra hands with making bracelets! If there’s anyone who would like to help, they can get in touch with me on any platform, my handle is the same everywhere: amyhughesphoto
